Sunday, 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Instructor: Liz Yockel

Skill Level: Beginner

Cost: $25, $20 for materials

Using thick, viscous dyes allows us to create more crisp designs on fiber. We will discuss the basics of dyeing protein-based fiber with acid dyes (Greener Shades, specifically), how to thicken dyes so they are suitable for stamping, stenciling, and otherwise applying in a way so they will not run into each other, and then design and dye our own fingering weight yarns. Students may choose to dye sock blanks (75% SW merino/25% nylon), hanks of sock yarn (75% SW merino/15% nylon/10% tencel), or both.

Materials Supplied

$20 for each sock blank and $12 for each skein of yarn dyed
