Welcome to The Genesee Valley Handspinners Guild Promoting the art of spinning in upstate New York since 1985

The guild is a group of people interested in various aspects of handspinning. The group formed in 1985 with just a few members and has grown to a group of well over 100. Members include veteran spinners as well as those who are completely new to spinning. Guild meetings offer opportunities to meet other spinners, learn spinning techniques, and share resources. The guild educates wider audiences about spinning through public demonstrations and the annual Finger Lakes Fiber Festival held in Hemlock, NY.

Meetings are held on the third Saturday of each month at the First Presbyterian Church, 70 East Main Street, Victor, NY, from 10:00 to 2:00.

The January guild meeting will be held via Zoom only on January 15, 2022 from 10:00 to 2:00.

We will determine whether to have the February meeting in person or via Zoom in the next few weeks.

Join us for the 27th annual Finger Lakes Fiber Festival September 17 & 18, 2022

Our festival features great vendors, with everything you need for fiber arts: raw fleece, roving, spinning supplies, needle felting supplies, dyes, yarns, items needed to knit, crochet, weave—and things you won’t know you need until you see them—not to mention unique, one-of-a-kind, handmade finished items!

2020 Spin-along

Beautiful fleeces from Nistock Farm have been processed by Acorn Works and each participant will get 8oz of natural colored roving to create their work of art. Anything can be made with this fiber, but nothing can be added to it–no dyes, no other fiber, no embellishments. These projects will be the Guild display for the NEXT Fiber Festival. Just imagine the possibilities!
